There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children.
The St. Kizito Foundation is a non-profit organization with the mission of providing hope for the many young people who have been affected by the war and poverty that have been ravaging Uganda for decades. We accomplish this goal through educational scholarship, through counseling, through assistance with food and shelter, and in providing community and support for our scholars.
At St. Kizito, we respond to Cain's question, "Am I my brother's keeper?" with a resounding YES! We hope to be part of building a world where we are all family and all able to live with dignity. We hope that our visitors here will be inspired to the same kind of future.
Throughout the world, there are hundreds of thousands of children who are forced to be soldiers in the wars of adults. One of the most notable areas that this has occurred is northern Uganda, where over 30,000 children have been abducted and forced into service.
Uganda is a small country in the Great Lakes region of east central Africa. For over twenty years, the country's northern region has been plagued with a civil war waged by rebels. Poverty, despair, illness, and lack of hope for the future have been the results.
While the hostilities have ceased for the time being, the damage has been immense. The children of Uganda - bright, loving, and compassionate - need and deserve the attention and care that St. Kizito strives to provide.
Together we can make it!
